L'uomo abita l'ombra delle parole, la giostra dell'ombra delle parole. Un "animale metafisico" lo ha definito Albert Caraco: un ente che dà luce al mondo attraverso le parole. In this haiku, it seems that the squirrel is talking: somehow, the seasons have changed and instead of enjoying the summer sun, the animal sleeps like an unusual lethargy.

You are exactly right, Elisa. I actually saw this scene on a very hot day last summer: A squirrel was spread out on its belly, taking a nap on a bed of moss on a large tree branch. The scene made a strong impression on me because I had always before seen squirrels moving about, never holding still, and absolutely never slapped out asleep in the middle of the day. An unusual lethargy indeed! thank you so much for publishing my poem, and for choosing such a sweet picture to accompany it.
